The needs listed in this section are the ones that are specific to youth workers. There are of course many other needs that should be met if youth worker should be able to do their best and youth work provision should function as intended. Both paid and voluntary youth workers need good working conditions, physical as well as mental. Paid youth workers also need fair salaries, clearly regulated working hours and much more. These requirements are, however, valid for all kinds of work and hence not listed here.
These bullet points states what a youth worker needs in terms of motivation, attitudes and competence in order to act in accordance with the core principles.
One important factor related to personal motivation and professional well-being is, however, having clear aims and a well-recognized role and position in society. Hence, the realization of this charter is, in itself, an important answer to the needs of European youth workers.
